I know a DV can connect into a TV but digital camera can’t. What’s difference in the video clips taken by between a digital camera and DV? A 5.1 MP digital camera can take either photos or video clips and save them into a SD card. I wonder whether the video clips taken by the digital camera have sound or pictures only?

Depends on the brand of camera, but many seem to use MJPEG or MOV formats for video. That's quite a bit more compressed than DV, which is about 5:1, if I remember correctly. MJPEG may be 20:1 or more, not sure.

And my digital camera can connect to a TV, composite in, and display either the JPEG stills or the MJPEG video, along with the sound.

What are the brand name of your digital camera and MP that can connect into the TV? Is there much difference in the picture taken between your digital camera and DV when connecting into your TV? How much time can your digital camera take the video, one, two or less hour?

If you're thinking about getting a still camera (with movie capabilities) instead of a DV camera - don't. There's a huge difference in quality, both video and audio wise (if the still has audio at all. Some do, some don't). The video capabilities of a still camera (at least those I've used) is just thrown in "for fun".

I have a older Canon S400 Digital ELPH. It captures 320 x 240 pixels, 15 fps video, up to 3 mins Movie: AVI (Motion JPEG + Wave audio) MJPEG is a more common name for the video format.

Most digital cameras should come with a cable to connect to a TV for playback.

Newer cameras can do higher resolution video, sometimes at a higher framerate and for a longer time. Most digital cameras have poor quality video compared to about any DV camcorder.

Can anyone recommend a digital camera or brand name that can capture the video and connect a TV. The capturing time does not matter. Several minutes are sufficient but the picture quality is good enough comparing with the MiniDV.

That's not going to happen. Low resolution, low frame rate - Get a DV camera if you want moving images.
