I am using the latest Nero 8 on a PC with PX116A (DVD ROM drive) and PX716A (DVD burner).

I am creating DVD from my home movies (on Hi8) using Sony VRD-MC5 DVDirect drive, on DVD+R media.

These discs play on my PX116A using ZNero Showtime.

Disc Info (in Nero) shows contents in the PX116A as:
CD-ROM; Read-Only CD; Sessions 1; Tracks 1; Size 4,467 MB; UDF/ISO 9660 (Mode 1)

Nero InfoTool5 (in Nero) shows contents in the PX116A as:
DVD Video (DVD+R); Capacity 4.36 GB; ISO9660. UDF; NTSC 4:3 (Mpeg 2, 720x480)

Note that I have very little control over the type of discs produced by the DVDirect drive. However, the discs play fine in my PC and DVD players, so I cannot fault that.

The problem: I cannot copy (on the fly) my DVD+R discs from the PX116A to the PX716A using Nero. Disc Copy, Nero Burning ROM etc all refuse, saying that the Disc cannot be copied into the blank in the PX716A.

If I use the PX716A to copy (as the source and the destination drive) than I can copy the discs just fine. However, it takes longer, as the image is first copied to the hard drive and then burned on the blank.

So, clearly, the info returned by the PX116A is confusing Nero.

Is there any way to override this in Nero and make it copy the contents from OX116A to the PX716A?

Maybe this is DVDirect's fault, maybe the older PX116A is not returning the correct disc type. However, is there a workaround?

Thanks in advance.
