  1. I have a client out in the middle of nowhere who wants to upgrade from dial-up. Cell or satellite are going to be the only options. His wife has a cell card in her laptop now. I'm wondering if there is a cell modem available for a desktop PC or if there is an adapter that will work with the mobile card correctly? If so is there a way to then split the signal via router. I'm not the most familiar person with the cell equipment available. They use Verizon Wireless by the way.

  3. Yeah I found a couple on Newegg. They all look like internal cards. I guess routing the signal to two PCs is out, unless I use one of them as the hub and leave it on all the time.

Verizon has an Xmas offer, I think still on now- free USB gizmo to make wireless cell connection; $60/mo for unlimited online time.

D-Link sold me a USB G thumb that came with a cable extender that has been very handy- burying a card in a grounded case doesn't give you much reception flexibility...

I saw something on BNET about Turn Your Wireless Modem Into a Wi-Fi Access Point ; no idea if its anygood

  6. I've since found out that Verizon hasn't upgraded their internet service around here yet and cell connection to the internet is slow as hell in this area. Oh well. Thanks for all the input though.

Sprint and AT&T have similar programs. But they will also be limited by cell coverage.
