Most of my divx and xvid files work on my ps3, but there are still a good number that don't. I figured that the converter application from divx.com would be compatible, but I'm still getting the "not supported" error on my ps3.

I'm basically wondering which app/settings would give me fool proof settings for running on the ps3. I don't really care about space, just that it works!

GSpot a file or 2 that works, and a few that don't - see if you can spot any differences.
If you're not sure how to interpret the Gspot info, post some screenshots here.

  3. ps3 will not play xvid with
    1) gmc
    2) qpel
    3) custom matrix
    4) max size 2gb

also.. "audio split accross interleaves" seems to be accepted only sometimes ...

you can use avinaptic for analysis also

...all of which a reencode with AutoGK set to Standalone compatibility mode, or AviReComp should fix.

thanks a lot fellas- Gspot and AviRecomp/AutoGK work nicely. It seems like some of my files that weren't working made with divx 3, which the ps3 will not play
