Hi. I run leopard (see my computer details), and I wish to encode a wmv video into a divx/xvid file to watch on my divx dvd player. I need to shrink the video from 1280x720 16:9 to 720x404 so it will play. I tried DivX Converter (which I acquired when DivX were offering Pro for free) and whilst Flip4Mac was importing it, Divx converter would crash. I tried FFMpegX and that didn't work. Does anyone know of a way to convert this video to a format that my dvd player can read???

    Thank you in advance

Add a step to smooth out any rough spots that may be causing the crashes.
If you have QT Pro or Flip4Mac 's WMV Studio I know this is possible,
not sure if you can do this with the free versions:

    1. Open the WMV in QT Pro, play to make sure it's ok.

    2. Export out as DV Stream. This will strip everything down
to baseline components that can be handled by any app.

    3. Then, either use DIVX converter on the DVStream file,
or with QT Pro, export the DV Streamfile out to DIVX
with the DIVX 6.5 encoder. or ffmpegx. or Dragand Drop it into
Toast 8 and burn a DIVX disc off the DV Stream input.
