I hope that this is the appropriate forum for this question. I own a Sony camcorder Model DCR-DVD203. I have never attempted to connect it with my iMac (Intel Core 2 Duo processor) which I purchased earlier this year. The manual for the camcorder indicates that the software which was provided on a disc "does not support MacIntosh computer". However, a friend indicated that he thought that I should be able to use iMovie with my camcorder since it records on mini (8 cm) DVD discs which are obviously digital. I am pretty sure that I cannot place the mini discs in the optical drive of the computer (and wouldn't try it unless I had information to the contrary) so my only option is to connect the camcorder to the computer using an appropriate cable but I have no idea what type to obtain for this purpose (that is what type of plug has to be on the computer end - the camcorder side requires a 10 pin plug). The only cable provided with the camcorder is an AV with two RCA type audio and one RCA type video plug on one end and the 10 pin connector for the camcorder at the other end. I have been using this cable to connect and record onto my DVD recorder however I did wish to explore the use of iMovie (of which I have absolutely no knowledge) since I thought it might be more useful for editing of both audio and video. Can I use my iMac with this older version of iMovie (6.0.3) which came installed on my computer, along with an appropriate cable or is it simpler for me to continue to transfer my video onto my DVD recorder?
