I converted a dvd to xvid but it was episodic and all the epeisodes were in the same pgc. I split the avis after the fact with virtualdub but there is one more avi and when the next season comes out I don't want to split 4 files by hand. Note the avis vary in legnth eliminating auto cuts based on time. Is there another way to split the video either before encoding to xivd or after?

  2. Hi-

Yes, you can split before encoding, when decrypting. If all are in the same PGC, then choose the number of chapters corresponding to each episode. For example, set up DVD Decrypter for IFO Mode. If there are 4 episodes and 20 or 21 chapters, then each episode consists of 5 chapters. Choose chapters 1-5 for ep 1, chapters 6-10 for ep 2, and so on.

maybe use dvdshrink on the dvd in re-author mode and use the |<->| cut mode to make individual dvd files of the episodes for conversion.
