Huh? I don't speak French!

I ripped a copy of Judge Dredd to a VCD (using the "standard" settings of Smartripper, DVD2AVI, and TMPGEnc). When they show the Aspen Prison the movie has it labeled with english text for a few seconds. As soon as the text fades the VCD "jumps" back and has the text in french. Then the movie goes on as usual. I have about 75 movies backed up onto VCD, and have never had this problem before. Very strange.

Anyone else have this problem with this movie or any other? Any ideas on why it'd happen? How does the DVD know to skip it if it's part of the main movie?

Actually, im having the same problem as we speak with 10 Things I Hate About You... i've even tried Vobrator to take out the extra video/audio stream, but to no avail.. its all English but it skips and goes back just like as if the French section was there.

Finally someone answers..... and in English ! Isn't it an annoying problem?

Let's start a list of movies with "bonus" non-english text skips, so others don't have to think they're crazy and fumble with the remote to see if it's real -
