Sorry this is a stupid question.

Is there any way of telling if my blank DVD is Single Layer or Dual Layer? I no longer have the packaging, and the top is plain white.
Is it quite unlikely that it would be Dual Layer?
    Thanks,

    Matt

Fairly unlikely that they would be dual layer unless you specifically purchased them. Even so, if they aren't Verbatim DL, not a lot of hope for a good burn most times, anyway. Most any burning program will tell you what you have. Load them in and check the info page.

You can download this software and check your disk with it. It will tell you manufacturer and type plus more.

If you install ImgBurn (it's free) and set it up to ISO Write mode and put the disc in your drive, it will read it and tell you how many layers it is. It won't actually write anything to the disc so don't worry about that, but it will read the table of contents and tell you the capacity of the disc.
