Using ConvertXtoDVD, I converted an R5 DVD to NTSC using DVD+R at 16x speed and the audio sounds high pitched. I know I can't be hearing things, but the actors voices seem a little too high pitched from their normal voices. Has anyone ever come across this problem converting R5 to NTSC or any other converting?

Could it be the type of DVDs I'm using? Is there a different between DVD-R and DVD+R? Could it be the speed I burn the DVDs? Is it the software I'm using?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank-you

Maybe. This R5 is PAL, I assume. What was the fps before and after?

The R5 was PAL, thats why I had to convert it to NTSC. As for what the fps were before and after, I'm not sure.

There are generally two methods of converting a 25fps source (PAL) to a 30fps source (NTSC, and yes, I am rounding that up for simplicity's sake). The method that professional DVD authors use when converting a 24fps source (film) to 30fps is, when all is said and done, to repeat six frames per second so that it does not speed the material up.

It is most likely that instead of repeating frames, the method you are using to convert this source to NTSC is speeding the material up. By five whole frames a second, which equates to about twenty percent. A twenty percent speedup also means a twenty percent rise in pitch, which is roughly five semitones.

So to answer your original question, it is not the software you are using, it is not the media you are using, and it is not the format you are using. It is the method you are using.
