how can I convert dvd file on my computer to avi or a different file

can I get help I have a file on my camputer that is A dvd
file of the add I am in. I what to covert the file to avi or a different file if so
if I can do that ?

the coverting program I have I try it in are
WinAVI Video Converter
DVD Decrypter
Apex Video Converter Super
Ahead Nero 8 Ultra Edition v8.1.2.0 Complete

but it still wan't work if one of this one will do the job how do
I do that or is there a better program what can do this
let me no please I am doing this so I can up load it to youtube they don't work in dvd format

WinAVI Video Converter is crap
Apex Video Converter is crap

Uninstall both of them and never out them back on your machine. That way lies madness and low quality video.

If you just want it done quickly, use AutoGK, set the resolution to 320 x whatever and the size to 100mb or less and encode. hat will meet Youtube's exacting requirements, although they will then re-encode it anyway.

can I just say thaks for you help but do you no more good programs what does all video format conveting like avi and mp4 and qicktime dvd file and more or does the one you have told me do them all

AutoGK only does Divx/Xvid in an avi container.

There is no good program that does them all. If you want quality, you need to use different programs that do particular jobs well. WinAVI is crap because it tries to do everything, and does not of it well. It also crashes a lot, and has not support to speak of from the company that takes your money.

You might try Handbreak or AVI Demux for a different range of skills, or even SUPER. SUPER has a wide range of skills, but like WinAVI it can be unstable and the quality isn't the best. However at least it's free.
