This one has me stumped. There's a lot of public domain content on www.nicovideo.jp (which is sort of a higher quality Japanese counterpart to Youtube) and I've been making attempts to store a couple of videos, against the strong likelihood of eventual purges of old content (just as Youtube seems to undergo). The method of doing so is somewhat convoluted but not impossible. However, the resulting .FLV file, unlike those acquired from Youtube, play back visually corrupted. The audio is fine.
It seems a safe guess that Nicovideo is utilizing some sort of realtime modification to the video playback function on their website which is absolutely required for uncorrupted playback, and that its absence in any videos played back through a different media player is the cause of the corruption. The question is: What does one do to fix it?
This will probably stump everyone, so I'm not expecting miracles or anything. Looking for a challenge? Go for it! ;p Thanks for reading in any event.

Do you have to register to just watch the videos? My japanese isn't that well...

Ah yeah. Yeah, they make a point of forcing people to at least be able to fudge their way into membership. I forgot about that. Plus it seems that "non premium" memberships aren't allowed to watch stuff all the time. Fortunately, Japanese "prime time" isn't our prime time.
Oh well. Thanks for trying!
