  1. Does anyone know if Sony Vegas Pro 8 will smart render just plain mpeg files?

I ripped a .vob file from a regular dvd, then converted it to an mpeg (using vob2mpeg), and I want to edit it in Vegas and be able to use the smart render feature. Does anyone know if this would work? I can only find info saying that the smart render is for HDV and XDCAM HD, but I need it to work on just a regular mpeg file.

Does anyone know? I'd appreciate any help.

I don't believe it does. Vegas decompresses mpeg files to the timeline, so they have to be completely re-encoded. If your editing requirements aren't too great, use Womble Mpeg Wizard instead.

  3. I´m using the trial version of vegas pro 8.0, imported files from a dvd camcorder and after editing it re-encoded only the edited parts of the video.
