External case for my BenQ W1640

Hello,

I'm trying to find an external case for my BenQ W1640. What's a good External DVD enclosure for a BenQ W1640 based on the Prolific PL-3507 chípset? I tried searching the web, but unable to specifically find an external case with Prolific PL-3507 chípset.
I want to use it with my Toshiba Satellite notebook.

Take a look at some of the 5.25 Kingwin enclosures: http://www.kingwin.com/product_pages/ss525us.asp That one uses a Prolific chipset. You may have to email them to find out which version. About $35US.

Dealsonic.com has external cases for the BENQ 1640 drive. Or check out the BENQ FORUM at cdfreaks.com they have a huge thread on external enclosures for BENQ's, PIONEER''s, etc. BENQ drives work better with the PROLIFIC chipsets. check out the BYTECC website as they have some external cases w/PROLIFIC chipsets. I'm at work so I don't have the available links for the thread at cdfreaks.com. Use google and search for enclosure thread at cdfreaks.com.

I looked on http://www.kingwin.com/product_pages/ss525us.asp site for enclosures for DVD’s, the only enclosures I see are for HD.

So I contacted Dealsonic.com and below is what they told me about the Prolific chips.




Dear Customer,
Proific chipset enclosures are no longer available as they are not very reliable. Yes the Plumax PM-525C2-PTB will work.

The one I linked to (ss525us) is for 5.25 drives, including optical drives such as DVD, CD. The end panel apparently removes for optical drives. It just says it has 'Newest Prolific chipsets included', so hard to tell what that means. I'm not necessarily recommending that one, it's just an example.
