and ive seen other people with this prob, but no answers. oddly the first 21 videos i converted to flv work fine, but then i started not working.

i tried converting a couple different formats to flv,
but it either fails, or finishes the encode in about a second, and outputs a blank file (Zero kb).
    so heres the error message:

    Try audio sampling as suggested.

I saw a Yeee Haww! there, but I cannot say the same. I'm getting 0kb files no matter what I do.

I cannot create FLV files whatsoever? Why this problem. I followed all installation instructions to no avail.

Can you help? See the picture attached.

    Other things to note:
    > Cannot preview.

    Thanks.

    Thanks.

I have the same problem. Also, when trying to play the .mov file, sometimes there is audio, sometimes there isn't.
p.s. I have an intel based mac if that makes any difference.

    1. Check to Log for stream mapping mismatch errors. If such an error is present, invert mapping.
    2. When converting from .mov, also try decoding with QuickTime, which is off by default for FLV conversions.

I don't know if this is your problem, but your pathname contains spaces. Many modules used by ffmpegx don't handle those gracefully. Try removing spaces, etc. from the pathname and try again. Observing this rule avoids many problems of exactly the type you're having ("I followed all the instructions, but I get 0kB output").

Hope this fixes it. If not, someone smart will post and tell you what to do.

Thanks a lot for your help! I've tried excluding the spaces but it hasn't resolved the problem. There has to be an answer somewhere.......

[No one smart has posted yet, so I'm posting instead. Too bad for you!]

Presumably you've chosen the "decode with QT" option. Have you tried playing the source file with QT? If so, are you able to hear sound there? If not, then the problem lies there. Ffmpegx won't be able encode into something if it can't decode the source properly, so that problem has to be addressed first.

Click the blue "i" in the Progress window to access the log ("Process Information").

Thanks for trying to help out! Yes, I have checked the "decode with qt" box. There is nothing wrong with the source file.

[mov,mp4,m4a,3gp,3g2,mj2 @ 0x5597b8]negative ctts, ignoring - I wonder if this has anything to do with it?

Another person unable to convert to Flash. Here's my '(i)' output:

Codec type mismatch for mapping #0.0 -> #0.0

I tried matching the audio in the output (i.e. no transcoding required), but I think the "#0.0" means it's a video issue, not an audio issue.

This mpeg was recorded with my Sony CyberShot. I've tried saving as a self-contained movie in QuickTime, and "use QT to decode", which gets me the below, even though it plays fine in QuickTime.

FFmpeg version CVS, Copyright (c) 2000-2004 Fabrice Bellard
Mac OSX universal build for ffmpegX
    libavutil version: 49.0.0

    Duration: N/A, bitrate: N/A
No audio or video streams available
    Fri Oct 26 11:32:33 EDT 2007

    Any help appreciated.

Also, any thoughts on going open source?

    Reid

Your source file has the audio stream (#0.0) mapped before the video stream (#0.1). This is reverse from what the ffmpeg engine expects. You may fix this "Codec type mismatch for mapping"-error by indicating that the streams are reversed. To do so, check the "Invert mapping" checkbox in the audio tab.
