  1. Can't seem to find any pevious posts.
Read at http://vend4less.com/general_vs_authoring_media.pdf that there are General Data and Authoring burners. Neither is compatible with the others blanks.

Can someone please advise if General Data DVD's can be used to burn DVD rips to so they play in a home DVD player.

The difference in price for blanks eg $3 for General Data or $9 for Authoring is huge if I want to buy a few. Don't have a burner myself....but work does - Pioneer DVR-A03!!

Mainly want to be able to put my MiniDV home movies into DVD format and burn to dvd to play in home player.
And also to use DVD media as a backup for non compressed AVI's from the digital video camera.

    TIA

  2. I have a Pioneer DVR-A03 and you use the Genral Data 4.7GB like the Pioneer DVS-R470SD or equalavent. I have used the Meritline generic and they work fine. The DVD-RW also wokr fine and play on both my Sony and Panasonic DVD players.
