I am using Nero to burning DVD , but I don’t know why when I added only two AVI files to Nero then I got a message , it said 4.7 GB space is full already. If I added more files , I will get a red worming message said I may get problem during burning. I believe the two files‘s size are about only1600 MB. I know some people can put about 6 movies on one DVD but I don’t want to make so much. I only want make about four movies on a disk, that is enough for me. I hope if someone can tell me why and how I can do.

    Thanks!

  2. If you're converting AVI to DVD, then you need maybe 3-4 times the AVI size for the DVDs. The fact that the 2 AVIs total 1600 MB is evidence that 2 movies is about all that should be put on the DVDR as DVD files - actually, probably less than that. You don't want to put 6 DVD movies on a disc. You don't even want to put 4 DVD movies on a single layer DVD. I don't know where you got those figures. Maybe you misunderstood and people were really saying that they're putting 6 movies on a DVDR as AVI, and not as DVD. DVD blanks are cheap. If you care at all about how the movies will look, don't try to push it.

And if you care at all about quality, stop using Nero for anything except for maybe burning to disc.

When creating DVD, dont look at the file size, look at the duration of the movies. For best quality don't exeed 2 hours worth. In my experience 4 hours is pushing it but it will still look decent. And definately don't use Nero Vision to convert your video to DVD. There are way better choices out there, some cheaper or even free. I recommend ConvertXtoDvd

I am using other software to convert my RMVB file to AVI and using Nero to burning DVD only not " convert".
I don't know if it will be better if I directly convert to DVD format instead of AVI .

    Thanks!

If your player can play DivX/XviD, you just burn the AVI files as data.
If you (try to) create a Video DVD, the video has to be encoded to mpg video, and authored as Video DVD.
If possible, use as few stages as possible between start and end format - If you can go directly from RMVB to DVD, you'll get better end quality than rmvb->avi->dvd.
Nero sux at the that (reencoding/authoring) so, use FAVC or convertx2dvd instead. Or read/follow some of the numerous guides on the subject found under Convert left.
Try not to squeeze more than 2 hours, tops, of video onto a DVD-5.
