What sort of movie ? Is this a DVD, an avi file ?

If it is an avi file, what is actually in it ? The contents of an avi file are packed using codecs. MP3 is a codec. AC3 is a codec. What format is the avi. G-spot or mediainfo will tell you.

Is all the audio low, or is it just the vocals ?

Did you create this file yourself, or did you acquire it elsewhere ?

    2 channel AC3 or 5.1 ?

If it is 5.1 then it maybe your codec and the way it is downmixing.

If it is 2 channel then it is most likely how it was downmixed by the person who encoded it originally, and there is very little you can do to change it.

Open the file in VLC, and then click on the Audio menu. There should be an option to choose the number of channels. If 5.1 is available, choose it an d see if it sounds better. If it is a local downmix issue then it should sound better under VLC anyway, as it will bypass your other codecs for playback.

You might be missing some codecs on your system. www.free-codecs.com under K-lite full codecs should do the trick. It's free... VLC is for streaming the media around, but does make a good media play too.

Don't install k-lite unless you like installing Windows.
