  1. why sometimes when i have multi menus (in DVD LAB PRO 2) with different formats, it effects the buttons by showing up on one, but not the other? it seems they are canceling out each other.

the mpgs is from a real DVD with Widescreen and fullscreen built in, is that a problem?

i have converted to the same type with "Mpeg Video Wizard" and "TMPGEnc" and the problem is still there. is there a better converter?

ps when i check it on the computer the buttons are there but its not there on the dvd player.

    any help would be great.

If you have different formats they must be in different VTS - that is to say, 16:9 material (including menus) goes in one VTS, 4:3 material in another.

Use a Bridge (added from the connection screen) to cross VTS boundaries.

The missing buttons have nothing to do with your source.

Are you doing motion menus at all ?

Are you rendering the menus to embed the buttons into them ?

If you try to create motion menus in DLP and just drop video onto the menu and create buttons, the menu needs to be rendered with the buttons, then encoded as mpeg 2. Otherwise the buttons disappear when authoring.

Personally, I do all my motion menus, including buttons, in Vegas, then just add the high-light in DLP.

all the menus are from a real DVD and they are all motion menus, i just draged the file in and dropped. then made the buttons.

If you are happy with very simple buttons, create your button, connect it, then click on the Map tab on the Properties sheet. Select the Normal state, and move the slider to the right (default is to the left) and select a colour for your button. This will force the button to stay on all the time. You can now set the colours for your other states and compile your DVD. See here : http://mediachance.com/dvdlab/helppro2/motion.htm for more details.

Note : doing this uses just the standard sub-pictures, which can look pretty rough around the edges.

If you want your buttons to actually look like part of the video, with nice smooth edges etc. then you should add them in your editor, or you have to use the Render Motion Menus option in DLP. It is covered here : http://mediachance.com/dvdlab/helppro2/render.htm

Personally, I find this much easier to do in Vegas or similar, than in DLP.

Both of the links come from the on-line version of the manual that ships with DLP.

Check the start of your video assets first, then check playback from the HDD. Finally, check playback from different players. It should not be doing that, and mine do not.
