Stays grayed out where? In the dvd player menu or the TV menu?

The TV menu will likely stay grayed out until it senses a signal on the HDMI interface. Have you changed your dvd player video setup to use HDMI output?

You should start your own thread...not threadjack. Try reading the rules.

Also, your problem is different. His menu option was greyed out, you are saying your TV screen is black (no picture).

DVD players typically output video from only one source at a time, which typically defaults to composite/S-Video. When changing to a new output, you have to change the DVD player video settings. The settings and process vary from player to player, but it should be outlined step by step in the user manual.
