hi, Im trying to use SUPER to convert an avi with xvid video codec and mp3 audio codec, to mp4 and I keep getting audio sync issues here are the specs of the input file

    Info for C:\Documents and Settings\Caroline\My Documents\Downloads\Private.Practice.S01E02.HDTV.X ViD-Caph.avi
    Created by Avi Checker

    [Informations]
    Size: 349.81 MB
    Length: 0:42:14
    N° of CDs: 1

    Codec: Xvid
    FourCC: xvid
    Bitrate: 1002 Kbit/s
    Width: 624
    Height: 352
    FPS: 23.98

    [Audio]
    Codec: MPEG Layer 3
    Identifier: 85
    Bitrate: 129 Kbit/s
    Channels: 2 (stereo)
    Samplerate: 48000 Hz

i dont care what codecs the outputted mp4 has, as long as it is mp4 and the audi0 is in sync!........I uninstalled all codec packs from my system as I read in another post they can cause an issue.

can someone tell me what settings to use in SUPER (there are so many!) to create an mp4 where the audio and video are in sync??
    thanks

What format (codec) of MP4? Xvid is already a MP4. MP4 is the name of the container, not the codec. What do you intend to play the file back on?

I would check the file with Gspot 2.70 and see if it has MP3 VBR audio. That can cause sync problems, though not usually with AVI-AVI type conversions. Missing frames or a corrupted file can also cause sync problems. As can bad framerate conversions. Are you doing any framerate conversions on the file?

the video that i am trying to convert has an avi extension and has xvid as its codec...
i want to convert the file to an mp4 extension, and i dont care what codec it has as long as audio and video are nsync

the only reason it has to be mp4 is becuase i am transferring it from my comp, to my tv via tivo and a wireless network..and tivo says they support transferring of wmv, mpeg and mp4...but ive tried all 3 and the only one that seems to transfer to the tivo smoothly is mp4

I just want to be able to watch it on my tv via tivo, and the only way to get it on my tivo, seems to be, like i said, making it a file with an mp4 extension..

    thankz

This might help a bit, from the TIVO site:
    http://customersupport.tivo.com/LaunchContent.aspx?CID=4012d160-79c3-4238-96c8-a27b323d1413
TiVo Desktop 2.4, or later, with a PLUS Key, allows you to transfer the following types of video files to your TiVo DVR:

    • Windows Media Video (.wmv)
    • QuickTime Movie (.mov)
    • MPEG-4/H.264 (.mp4, .m4v, .mp4v)
    • MPEG-2 (.mpg, .mpeg, .mpe, .mp2, .mp2v, .mpv2)

TiVo Desktop 2.5, or later, with a PLUS Key, adds support for the following file types:

    • DivX and Xvid: (.avi, .divx)
MeGUI seems to be popular for H.264 conversions. But H.264 takes a lot of computing power to encode and play back. SUPER is maybe too simple of a converter.
