Original Blank Cd's or Dvd's

Where do you get original blank cds or dvds from? I mean the dvds that don't have the brand name all over the disc as well as the inner plastic.

Can you record whatever it is straight onto it or is a more complicated process involved?

No name blank media can be bought at some office retailers. But there is no name on the stuff because it probably isn't good enough quality to put their name on.

The firmware in your dvd/cd burner WILL care what brand you use, and it will take longer to record on cheap media. There are media (identity and speed) ratings embedded on the disc. It does not pay to use cheap blanks.

Just checked my supply of Taiyo Yuden CDs and DVDs.

Both are blank, nothing printed on them, and were purchased online.
Don't remember where I bought them.

(I checked the codes, they are legit.. if you can believe the codes)

ok thanks but i did not mean cheap brands. I meant like the dvds that you would see when you buy an original movie like the matrix and all you see on it is the matrix label which i'm guessing is printed thermally and on the plastic you see like shiny bar code or stripe along with just numbers. I am talking about those dvds.

I do not want to do a dvd and someone looks at it and say "oh he uses memorex or tdk".

The hollywood dvds are pressed in a commercial machine. Not available for retail sales. You can buy blank dvdr with a printable label and buy a printer capable of printing directly to the disc to make a pretty good looking disc though.

You pay a pressing plant to make them for you. They are not anything like CD-R and DVD+/-R discs. They are actually stamped from a master that puts pits in a metal disc, whereas recordable discs use dye to simulate the pits in pressed discs.

They have no markings on the label side. If you want labels you would need a thermal printer.

The 8X seems to give the best results for most burners, but the 16X also works very well.

To have pressed discs made, it is fairly expensive and a somewhat involved process. There is usually a minimum order of at least 200 discs, all the same, or more commonly, 1000 or more. Not cheap.

Those are pressed, not burnt. You need a million dollar pressing machine and a clean room. See
