The ImgBurn DVD-Video Shell Ext v1.2 doesn't work on vista. It installs fine, but no context menuitem is shown.

Yes well Vista RC2 (out of the box so to speak), doesn't allow any installation of programs that do administator type tasks. Even if you are an administrator! They will install but may not work as the admin rights bits will not have happened. Any shell ext needs to update the registry and this is an admin task in Vista....

So you will have to either turn off the UAP stuff or "install as an administrator"... The latter can be done by right clicking the msi/exe and selecting "run as administrator"

(I'm not saying it will work but this would be the first step you will need to do).

I did the "install as an administrator", that doesn't seem to work. Will try the UAP suggestion.

ok. Can you try to merge this registry update? (Change the path to the dll as appropriate).

I tried merging the supplied REG file, above, but it didn't do any good (it wasn't necessary anyway, since the Registry already had that entry in it after I installed the program as Admin).

"Burn with ImgBurn" simply does not show up in any context menus.

Using a utility called FastExplorer 2007 (a context menu editor), I get strange error message that ImgBurnDVDMenu extension is broken due to reason that file mscoree.dll "not available" even though the file has been copied into System32 directory and seems to be properly registered with regsvr32.exe.

Using Microsoft Vista Home Premium on Intel Core2 Duo machine.

Does author have any further ideas?

    Thanks.

I don't think mscoree.dll needs to be registered via regsvr32 as it is part of the .Net framework. Can you confirm that you have the latest build of the shell ext from the website and that you have .Net 2 installed?

Think so (I just downloaded it a couple of weeks ago) - setup files are dated 9/13/2006. I'm assuming setup.exe is the file that's supposed to be run, though it's confusing having two installer files to choose from. Most of us are accustomed to installing apps directly via .msi files now, so a ReadMe in the ZIP file or a note on the web page, stating which file to run, might be helpful.

Vista comes with .NET Framework included as part of the operating system (supposedly includes files for .NET 1.1, .NET 2 and .NET 3, but don't know how they're set up). Other context menu items on my system use mscoree.dll as well - and work as expected (with no errors re that DLL file reported).

Doubt this has been very helpful; hope you can figure it out.

    Thanks.

I save all my video projects under a folder called "Work" in my user folder, currently C:\Users\PBear\Work\Musicals\VIDEO_TS. I've moved the VIDEO_TS folder around, directly under my user folder and directly under the root directory on C:. This is the menu I get when I right-click on VIDEO_TS in all cases:
