  1. I am using GUI for DVDauthor to create a home movie and have ran into what seems to be a glitch...

I author the dvd with a still frame menu that has audio playing in the background. I have a full 4-5 minute song running and on loop. Whenever I play the dvd on my little Sanyo standalone dvd player, it plays the song exactly how I want and in it's entirety. However, we also have a cheap Emerson DVD/VCR combo that whenever I try to play it on there it only plays about 5 seconds of the song then automatically loops over and over. I have tried it on several dvd players, some play it fine, some loop it within 5 seconds. I've even tried it without the loop sometimes, and it still does it. I thought at first maybe it had to do with cheap DVD players. But it worked fine on a cheap Apex and Sanyo player, but did not on others. Am I setting something wrong or is this just a glitch?

    Thanks for any help!

  2. I think this is 'just a glitch'. Actually I don't have any idea why this strange behavior can be found on some DVD players. To narrow the search for the error, you can try to help me...
    1. Is the result the same if you use MuxMan or dvdauthor as authoring engine?
Do you have another DVD (or can you create one with an alternative authoring program) with a still single frame menu and an audio > 5 seconds where all players do the looping correctly?
If yes, we can try to look for differences with vobedit.

  3. I did not try with Muxman. Only dvdauthor. I'll try the things you mentioned above and post back later.

    Try this :

It may be easier to use the function from dvdauthorgui for this .
Take your still image , and create an m2v still .

If pal x 1 second = enter 25 and go
If nstc x 1 second = enter 29 and go ... don't ask me , it dosent have a lot of options.

Use this new m2v clip for the menu background instead of a single frame ... its a bug that affects some players where a still frame is used .

  5. In GfD you can also set the 'Number of frames for still menus' to any number you like. But I don't think that this solves the problem here...
Nevertheless you may try it. But we had also problems with some players for menus where the video had ~ 25 or 30 frames but the audio was longer...
