  1. i use imtoo dvd ripper to back up my movies,i like the way you can hard code subs from foreign movies very easily,i have one small prob all the avi`s(whether divx or xvid) turn out to be about 900mb to 1gig in size. is there any way to reduce the size to 700mb that still lets me hardcode subs. i tried reducing the video bitrate in imtoo below the auto-selected 1200 but the picture seemed very pixelated on the laptop screen.

    any ideas?

    regards

Both autogk and fairuse wizard can also hardcode the subtitles so I would try them first.

But you must lower the video bitrate to get lower file size, you can also lower the bitrate for the audio. Try also use 2-pass encoding if possible in imtoo.

  3. have lowered the audio bitrate which was ok buas i said before the video bitrate when lowered produced bad results, there is no option for 2 pass that i can see.

tried fairuse but it crashed half way through, will try gk,any other ideas would be greatly appreciated

would copying dvd to hard drive first sped up the process and if so what is the best programme to use?
