But the problem is I need it to support xvid/divx/avi files as wells as the regular CD, DVD, CD-R, SVCD, CD-RW, DVD+R, DVD-R, DVD+RW, DVD-RW, DVD-RAM, DVD-ROM, DVD+R DL, DVD-R DL, Video CD, DVD-Audio

But I'm not to versed in the technical so the specs mean very little to me... If anyone can help translate I just want to be able to watch burned DVDs + and - that I burned AVI files on?

Or if you have any info on the RIGHT DVD/VHS combo to buy please let me know?

To my knowledge, the only 2006 Panasonic models to support DIVX were the DMR-EH55S and the DMR-EH75V. The new EZ27 and EZ47 support it but not the EZ17 and EZ37. I tried an avi file on a EH75V and it would not play but have never tried an XVID file. I hope you are not confusing their HDAVI control with the avi files. The HDAVI controls are signals sent via the HDMI cable to a compatible Panasonic TV.
