I'm starting to copy old LPs to wav and capturing as one wave each side. My question is about splitting the audio based on the blank spaces between the songs. Is there a way to use sound forge 8.0 to place markers in the silent sections of the file so that the the file may be split into sections while allowing the removal or correction of the cut points as needed? If not is there another audio editor with a function similar to what I describe? thanks in advance for any and all help.

If your end format is MP3, MP3 DirectCut can do that.

The freeware audio editor Audacity also has a 'silence finder', though I've never tried that function.

Audacity seems more similar to the feature I want. Works Extremely well and is exactly what I needed. Too bad there is no feature in sound forge.
