    Hi guys,

My Passport Pocket USB 2.0 (WDXMM60WPN) have been working just fine for about 6 months now. However, when I accidentally plugged it in my Phillip DVD player (and this DVD player is ON) then the dvd player did not display any data in my USB anymore. I tried to plug the USB into my pc and went to My Computer, but could not see the Western Digital icon for my USB in there anymore!!!. Then, I went to Device Manager and I still saw my USB listed there. I went ahead and chose Properties and it said my USB is working properly!!!. What should I do to get my USB to work again?Thank you in advance.

    Hi MJA,

Thank you for that information. I just did it. It detected an error, something like "cable test failed...check the cable". I do not understand what cable it is talking about?Since it is a flash usb, which does not have a cable with it, so what does that message mean?

Send it back under warranty , it's the only thing you can do with "flash" memory devices .

Nothing wrong with "usb" on pc ... it's basically saying the device is not connected or unable to detect it .

Either the cable used to connect to other device's has failed , or it's dead .

It wouldn't be worth while to pull it apart to fix .

  5. It is also possible that the connectors inside the device have broken solder joints.

I had to pull two different flash thumb drives that started getting flakey and then stopped working entirely apart. I resoldered the four connectors from the usb plug onto the circuit board and blammo both are now working again.
