I'm trying to copy a DVD but I get a message saying that copy cannot
be made because of some corrupted vob file. I have tried DVD Fab Decrypter, DVD Shrink, FixVTS, TMPG Enc. and VobEdit without success. Any solution?

  4. Try to copy the vob file to your hard disk with a file manager (windows explorer) and if that works, try the rippers on the copied file. If you cannot copy the vob file to your hard disk, it could be a hardware problem (scratch on the disk).

It always helps to have more than one drive/brand, many times another will be able to read a damaged disc. If the disc is important maybe a friends drive can read it.

What kind of DVD is it? Is it a data DVD or a DVD-Video?

If it's a data DVD there's not much hope if it's scratched. However, if it's DVD-video then you can use ISObuster to overcome the scratches or any errors. ISObuster will give you the option of replacing errors with dummy data. This means that when you play the DVD-video there might be a flicker of a green or black pixel. The regularity of these flickers depends on how many errors there are.

It would be easier to play it in a DVD player since the read speed is a lot faster than a DVD-drive and so will more likely skim over these flickers quickly with no problems.

But if the DVD is scratch SOOOO badly that your DVD-drive starts making strange and struggling sounds then it would be best to take it to a store to get it cleaned beforehand.
