I know this is a silly question but....

I made a computer to connect to my widescreen Plasma TV. I am using VLC to watch AVI slips but the picture has been stretched. Is there a way of setting the computer to display is normal aspect ratio? I have a nVidia graphic card.

    Thanks in anticipation.

And what player are you using? The player owns the problem.

    --monitor-par=<string> Monitor pixel aspect ratio
This forces the monitor aspect ratio. Most
monitors have square pixels (1:1). If you
have a 16:9 screen, you might need to change
this to 4:3 in order to keep proportions.

Question: Is the screen itself stretched or just the video itself?

If it's just the video itself then it's a simple answer if you're using VLC. While the video is playing right click the screen and go down the the 'Aspect Ratio'. Change it to the ratio of your preference.

    Hi,
    To answer the questions:

The PC is connected to the TV with the 15pin D-connector
    The player is VLC
    The whole screen is stretched

Also the TV is 1024v768 with pixels stretched.

You need to set your display on your PC to match the display of the TV. I suspect that the TV's native resolution is not 1024 x 768.
