i was supposed to burn a audio cd with 20 songs in it,using Nero Express 7,before i could burn,i was welcomed with this message!
instead of 20 songs,i burned my audio cd with 19 song, due to space constrains. If i carried on with overburn will this spoil my burner? This compilation contains too much data to fit on the disc with respect to the normal disc capacity.Do you want to try overburn writing at your own risk?(This might cause read errors at the end of the disc or might even damage your recorder.)
Required capacity: 715MB
Total capacity on disc: 701MB
Note: SCSI/ATAPI errors may also occur at the end of the stimulation or burning.Even then, the CD/DVD may still be readable but the written data needs to be verified.
Click 'OK' if you want to overburn writing on the disc.

Hi

715mb is definitely out of the range of any normal burner and might destroy it. 703-4 maybe. you might try getting rid of the 2 second pauses between tracks and editing the songs to get rid of any dead air time to reduce their size.

In short, you are fairly safe in overburning with your drive.ICBM target coordinates:

thats a relieve!
so anymore disadvantages and advantages in overburning that i need to know~?Hi -
http://cdrecord.berlios.de/old/private/man/cdrecord-2.0.html teaches:
-overburn
Allow cdrecord to write more than the official size
of a medium. This feature is usually called over-
burning and depends on the fact that most blank
media may hold more space than the official size.
As the official size of the lead-out area on the
disk is 90 seconds (6750 sectors) and a disk usu-
ally works if there are at least 150 sectors of
lead out, all media may be overburned by at least
88 seconds (6600 sectors). Most CD recorders only
do overburning in SAO or RAW mode. Known exceptions
are TEAC CD-R50S, TEAC CD-R55S and the Panasonic
CW-7502. Some drives do now allow to overburn as
much as you might like and limit the size of a CD
to e.g. 76 minutes. This problem may be circum-
vented by writing the CD in RAW mode because this
way the drive has no chance to find the size before
starting to burn. There is no guarantee that your
drive supports overburning at all. Make a test to
check if your drive implements the feature. -
Nero has a tool called CDSPEED that can do an overburning test of your particular brand of CD. It should give you some idea on just how much you can overburn. I have some really cheap 80's that I can get 2:35 minutes extra on them. I also have some 90 minute CDRs that my Yamaha burner handles okay. However, with the extra length burns, you run into the problem of some players not being able to read the leadin properly. My CD player in my car has this problem. But then, 90+ is in the "extreme overburn" area.
