Hi guys. I've got a Lite on DVD burner model shw-16p6s.
It has worked great since I bought it (september, last year) but about a few months ago I started having problems with it...
I've had A LOT of burning errors, when I'm burning DVD's (havent burned many cd's lately but as far as I remember I've never had a problem with that)...
I've tried many programs (ususally I use nero) and it still doesn't work most of the time... I tried about 20 times to burn a dvd a few days ago... nothing... it doesn't even write anything to the disc. It comes out empty (though the software says it's burning)... sometimes it does burn but stops with an error...
I've updated my firmware and nothing...
A curious thing is that I've got a DVD-RW that I use to burn my divx movies and it burns perfectly everytime... but when I try with dvd-r's I can't burn a thing (I've tried a few brands... not that many though, cause I had a "tower" and well... that's why I used... but those discs burned fine at first).
I don't know what to do... should I buy a new one?...
Thanks in advance
BTW, here's a log from Nero... if anyone can understand a thing from it

Sense Key: 0x03 (KEY_MEDIUM_ERROR) Ritek not reliable IMO...
Could be media prob.. try diff. media, and slow down burn to 12x or 8x......see what happens...." Who needs Google, my wife knows everything" -
Try ImgBurn instead of Nero and see if it helps.
And it's always a good idea to try different DVD media to see if it may be the problem as it's the cheapest thing to change.
DVD and CD burning are a separate operation and one may work and the other fail.
And if all that fails, try cleaning the laser lens before you shop for a new burner. -
Your LiteOn wasn't a good burner when you took it out of the box. There is no point in trying to diagnose and "fix" it. You can buy a Pioneer 112 for less than $40 if you shop around. Fiddling with your LiteOn isn't worth the hassle and it isn't going anywhere.
