Ever since I installed autoGK, when I burn a full DVD it takes between 40-45 minutes where it use to take approx 15 min on with a burn speed of 4x. I have not changed my media. The only diference is AutoGK. I have the same problem with DVD Decrypter and Nero 7.

I have Uninstalled AutoGK, using the unistall feature with AutoGK....no improvement.

I did a clean install about a month to 2 months ago...Don't want to do it again so soon.

    Any Ideas I can Try?

Which app(s) are you using to burn? Are you burning data discs or video discs? Have you tried burning data and video discs? Do they both take the same amount of time?

And you might want to check if your burner has reverted to PIO mode. That will slow it down considerably. Nothing to do with AGK, though: Control Panel>System>Device Manager>IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers' and check all your devices for PIO mode. None of them should be in it. To fix, uninstall the channel and reboot. Windows should reset it.

I first noticed the problem with an iso file using DVD Decrypter to burn it. I use Nero to burn my disks at the moment. I have the same problem burning Video or Data DVDs.

Just for your information, if Windows detects 6 consecutive read failures on a drive, it will revert that channel to PIO mode to enable it to keep working. If you are having a lot of difficulty reading a disc, then your drive slows down, that's the most likely cause. Unfortunately, Windows won't reset it automatically, or even tell you about the problem.

Uninstalling the channel won't cause any data loss and Windows will replace or reset it on the next boot. Occasionally this doesn't work, then you have to make some changes in the registry.

Okay now I know how it happened.....I had a very scratched disk that was giving read errors left right and centre. Thanks for the extra info.
