Here is the problem I have just downloaded a movie which is split into 16 different parts and I wanted to join them together using VirtualDub 1.6.17 and an error came up saying

"[!] AVI: Variable bitrate (VBR) audio detected. VBR audio in AVI is
non-standard and you may encounter sync errors up to 489ms when attempting
to extract WAV files or processing the audio in Direct Stream Copy mode.
Full Processing mode is recommended to decompress or recompress the audio.
    (bitrate: 171.7 ± 15.9 kbps)"

and then I open up VirtualDub mp3 freezer to try and join the files (The reason I I moved to VirtualDub mp3 freezer is because I read a link on this site saying I would get audio sync problem "https://www.videohelp.com/virtualdubedit.htm") after opening the first file the no errors came up but when I open the second file to join the first another error came up saying "The audio streams have different data formats" as a result the files cant join together I have search this site and google the problem but no results

Can anyone please help thanks in advance

You could try AVIdemux and it may be able to join them, but check for sync problems after the join. With VirtualDub Mod, I normally just convert the VBR to WAV, join them in Audacity, then encode to AC3 with ffmpeggui. That's for DVD format. For AVI type format, I use Audacity to join the WAV audio files and convert to MP3 CBR. Then join the videos and add the new CBR audio. But with that many files, it would take a while.

Just my opinion, but it seems a bad idea to split up a video with VBR audio as you could end up with major sync problems with that many separate files. Normally videos are split into many parts with a program like WinRAR and you use that to re-join them. That would be a lot better than trying to join a whole bunch of VBR audio files.

I'm assuming the audio tracks are all the same format, just VBR, which can read as different rates in each file. That's what VD is probably complaining about.

  3. I am going to be brutally honest here.

There is just no way on God's Green Earth that you have "searched this site" and not come up with a way to handle VBR audio in VirtualDub. This has to be one of the most common problems, repeatedly answered over the last several years. By repeatedly, I mean numbers stretching into the hundreds.

If that is all the patience you have, find a new hobby.

If you are really looking for the answer and not a spoon-feeding, then try again. There are many, many other things you need to know, and reading is the only way to get there. Improving your search techniques will benefit you immensely, as well.

I would search the Guides, and you may also want to read the Dynamically Updated Master Breakdown for Access to Superb Statements.
