    I have a file that I acquired. When I acquired it, it was compressed as .rar files, when I extracted the .rar files, the result was an .iso file. I tried to convert that file to .avi, so I can use TMPGEnconder to convert the format to full screen (I know that to the "purists" that is heresy, but I don't have "hidef tv," and, dislike greatly "letterboxing." But FairUse Wizard doesn't seem to be able to work with it, getting the error message "The DVD file system could not be loaded>>> Unable to read partion descriptor-invalid LBA" even after I burned the .iso "image" to a DVD.
    I tried AutoGK, converted the DVD made from the .iso "image" to .ifo using DVDDecyrptor, getting a number of "links" in a "chain" instead of one "image," tried to convert using a different "linK" three times, each time with the same file size, setting the output size to 2GB/DVD-5. But AutoGK can't go on after, apparently, the compression test, because I get an error message saying "Open .avi failed."
    Can someone explain to me if there is anything I can do to get either of these programs to accept this file, so I can convert to .avi, and, then change the screen format to full screen?

    Thanks.

    hopefully you used a recent version of winrar to put the pieces back together. if so, what files are on the dvd you burned of the iso? it's either a dvd or an avi but the 2 can't be used the same way.

    romi,

    .iso, is what my version of winrar (3.65, aedipuss,) say is being extracted. And, I used CloneDVD2 to convert/burn that result to a DVD. Also, extracted video.ts,audio.ts files from the .iso (using isobuster,) and, used CloneDVD2 to create a DVD from those files.
    All methods, (using extracted .iso, converted .iso {Using DVDdecyrtor,} .iso converted to DVD, DVD files burned to a DVD,) seem to give me the same result from FairUse.
    Hope that is enough information for someone to give someone an idea what is happening, or, not happening, to solve my problem.
    Thanks.

    Have you tried DVDD in file mode? or use shrink on iso to backup to new VIDEO_TS folder> then try FairUse or AutoGK...
    something has to be wrong with your DVD format( not in compliance)...
    BTW what did you use to extract .rar to iso? cuz you can use IMGBurn and save image to HDD....

    I did try using both the extracted iso, and, the converted .iso in Fairuse. Both gave me the same error message.

    tOnee1;
    I believe you are asking if I used DVDdecyrptor in file mode;
    yes, that is what I used to convert the burned DVD to .iso, and, I used the default program, Winrar, to extract the .iso file from the .rar files. I don't understand what the difference/advantage would be in using IMGBurn to do this. And, since I used CloneDVD2 in creating DVDS on a "rewritable" (If that makes a difference, I erased the "rewritable" using DVDdecyrptor, although CloneDVD2 said the disc wasn't empty, or, had been formatted) what would make the DVD be in an incorrect format?

    Thanks

    AFAIK,IMGBurn does a better job at building iso! But if you had a proper winrar iso then FairuseW will accept it,I'm doing one as I type...You can also right click your iso and if installed have IMGBurn write to disk.....

    Well the problem does seem to have been in how the original .iso file was made. I took the extracted DVD files and ran them through the "fixer" program, and, then created a new .iso file with imgtool classic, as romi suggested. Am now running that result through FairUse, which did accept the new .iso. Now how/why the original .iso became "bad", I don't know, since a DVD created from it seem to be fine.
    Thanks to all members who posted possible reasons/solutions.
