    Hey all , im new

I've installed Haali Media Splitter, coreavc 1.3 and tried playing mkv files on zoom player and mpc, i own an old computer, 1.8 GHz, 768 Mb, Ge force 5900XT but read that mkv can run smoothly on a 1300 processor..

    thanks

It depends what kind of mkv. A h264 with 720p or 1080i or 1080p video wont work that good on a 1.8 ghz system.

Yeah, mkv is about the most powerful and versatile container around. It can contain just about anything, although I guess these days >= 720p AVC content is about the most common.

At any rate you might want to check your CPU usage during playback.

I'm having the same problem, though, the audio gets out of sync and then every 2 minutes or so the video races up to get in sync. Athlon 64 4200+ dual core, playing a 1080p movie, so there shouldn't be a problem there...

CoreAVC would not work for me as I am running Vista x64... I am using ffdshow.... I tried using nVidia PureVideo but can't get it to decode H.264 even though I put the filter settings all correct in Zoom Player.

CoreAVC works here in XP x64, although obviously only for 32bit apps or are you saying that it is a Vista issue?
