MKV to Divx while retaining 5.1 sound

Is it possible to convert HDTV x264 MKV file to Divx retaining original 5.1 sound?
I tried Super, AutoMKV and both suggest Stereo only. Is it a limitation or what is the issue?
On a separate note, I have HDTV TV which support 1080i, my DVD player connects using composite cable to TV, which resolution do I need to choose during conversion to maximize quality?

You could also demux the 5.1 audio with mkvextractgui and mux it in the avi/divx using virtualdubmod or avimux gui.

Yes, just tried that one as well and it actually spelled out right there on a screen that AlltoAvi support MP3 encoding only.

If you want both audio tracks, then no there isn't a single tool. You may try Avidemux, but I am not sure it will work. If you want only one audio track, maybe Super can do it.
In fact you want to convert the video x264 to XviD or DivX, not the mkv. As result you got to have an avi with DTS and FLAC (hmm).

What do you mean by "both audio tracks"? I want just one English 5.1 audio and that's it. I don't understand why description lists 2 audios, one in PCM and another one 5.1.

In the info it is written:
Audio 1 DTS 5.1 - this is the first audio track and
Audio 2 FLAC 5.1 - this is the second audio track. This is what audio you should have in the mkv. They both can be English and are 5.1.
As for PCM this is the source from which video and audio were converted to create the mkv
