Hello everyone,
I have tried to use SVCD2DVD (great tool!) to make a DVD from VCD-file. It is PAL, 352x288 and I have got a .sup-file in the folder w same file-name as video.
Now the authoring runs without a hitch (and very fast!), the result works fine, BUT the subs are just barely visible at the bottom edge of the video.
I tried to position them differently, taking the mpeg1-resolution into account (presuming that to be the problem), but afterwards the subs appeared in the middle of the video...
Has anyone a suggestion what the error might be? ANY hint will be appreciated. I am almost prepared to convert the video to DVD-mpeg2, but I still hope this might be avoided...![]()

What's the dimensions of the images in the .sup file? My take on this, is that they should be the same as the video - 352x288

I tried both alternatives, saving at Full D1 (PAL) and Half D1 as well, to no avail... That is, when I position the subs in a .sup file according to smaller res., they appear in the middle of the video image afterwards; if I position them according to higher res., I end up with the edges just showing at the bottom of.. (s.a.)
Because of all this try and error I now make the following assumption: the video-image of a mpeg1-DVD (i.e. actual 352x288) is enlarged to fit the screen during playback, but NOT to Full D1 size (720x576 in this case=PAL), but a certain percentage of that size. That would explain, that in formatting the subs for both resolutions it goes wrong both times.
But what size/percentage would that be, actually? I mean, is there a place where it tells one about tese technicalities so as to enable correct formatting of the subs?
Thank y'all for bearing with me! -
What device(s) have you used for playback? Computer software player(s)? Standalone hardware player(s)? Does it behave the same on all playback devices?

Tried software and hardware players on this... Don't remember, if I tried standalone everytime, but still - there it was...
Perhabs I will get there, if I play around with resolutons and position a bit more, but just now I am fed up and have re-encoded the mpeg1-file to mpeg2, Full D1. Actually it's great quality to begin with, so on TV-screen, with Avisynth +"XSharpen"-filter (default-setting) and WinFF for encoding (another GUI for ffmpeg) the image is as good, if not better on detail...
Anyone got a solution to this problem by any chance?
Thanks to all so far!
