  1. Here's my problem:

I have an MPEG and I wanted to burn it into a VCD, so just to test if I had or not to convert the file with TMPGEnc, I tried to add it to a VCD that I was doing in VCD Easy. VCD Easy analysed the file and said it was an invalid file... quote: " '*.mpeg' analyse failed: input mpeg stream has been deemed invalid -- Aborting".

So I though that I should probably convert it with TMPGEnc, so that's what I tried, and every time, TMPGEnc freezed in the exact same part of the video (when it's converting it) (the source video appears to be PAL, and I've tried using NTSC, NTCSFilm and PAL templates.)

I also tried to use a program called Windows Movie Maker that came with my PC to try and transform it to asf or vmw and then transform it into mpg, but again, the file is aparently invalid.

I also tried capturing the video with camtasia, a program that can make avi's from whatever you have on your screen, this didn't work either, the area in which the video was playing was just black space when I watched the avi I had just made.

So I dunno what to do The weird thing is that I can watch this mpeg video with no problems on the Windows Media Player... anyone has an idea of what I can do to convert this file so that I can burn it into a VCD?

  2. Try opening the file using VirtualDub.
If that succeeds, move the slider bar and check if you can see all frames.
Try frameserving to TMPGEnc and encode to compliant VCD file.
If that fails too, check out http://nickyguides.digital-digest.com/index.htm
    Look for Converting Stubborn MPEGs.
