I have avi file captured from TV as DV type 2. I loaded file to VirtualDubMod through avisynth and cropped unwanted portions of video. Then exported avi to a new formats for testing (lagarith and mjpeg). The resulting new avi file, loaded to AutoGK.

Here is interesting part, I did some test with original DV type 2 file and AutoGK, after analyzing source file, AutoGK states that "Source is considered to be interlaced." When I load new file (lagarith and mjpeg) AutoGK says that the "Source is considered to be hybrid (mostly FILM)."

Of course at the end the final converterted file (divx) looks OK, but when there is a fast motion the image becomes a bit distorted. The original file (DV type 2 ) converted to divx looks and plays perfect

  2. Hi-

You're a little unclear exactly what you did to it, but there's at least a fair chance that by cropping it (and resizing it?) you messed it up beyond AutoGK's ability to examine and fix it.

I loaded file to VirtualDubMod through avisynth and cropped unwanted portions of video.

Are you saying you made a basic AviSynth script and actually cropped it in VDub? Why? How much did you crop, and did you do anything else to it?

I did not want to do too much processing in VirtualDubMod, therefore I loaded file to VirtualDubMod through Avisynth option, under filters selected null processing and cropped file (60 from bottom and top). Because file can be exported only in full processing mode, I had to select video codec, unfortunately Canopus DV codec will not work in VirtualDubMod, so I decided to use other codecs lagarith and mjpeg. Then saved file as a new avi.

I checked file information for original file in VirtualDub (color YUY2), the new file color is RGB, however in settings for lagarith I selected the same color as original YUY2. Still, AutoGK spit out the same message that source file is hybrid.
