I have a collection of about 35 mpeg video files (random little clips that equal about 3 minutes when combined) & I'm trying to combine them into 1 file. The audio sync is good on the source files, but when I use a program to merge them audio sync is all messed up by a couple of seconds.

I've tried these programs and all have failed:

    Media Join 1.0

    CombiMovie

    AVI MPEG RM WMV Joiner

I converted them to AVI files and tried using Virtual Dub Mod to join and it failed.
I tried using YAAI 2.0.3.488 to fix audio sync and it seemed to have no affect on the merged file.

While still in AVI format, I used AVI-Mux GUI 1.17.7 to delay the audio stream and on some clips of the combined file it worked and on some it didn't. So the audio is in sync on one portion of the file and on another it's out of sync.

What could the problem be or I should say how do I fix it?

Quite expected. Joining up a lot of random video files is bound to go wrong. Why are you joining them?

There was a surprise birthday and a parent got some of the guest to say "Happy Birthday!" in front of a camera and I was trying to burn them to a DVD-R. But I wanted them in one file as to give it a slide show effect instead of clicking every every individual file.

Is there anyway to fix the audio or could you think of some type of alternative?

If you use for instance TMPGEnc DVD Author, you can add them all (provided they are all DVD specs mpg) to the same title. They will then play back as a continous movie, if you remove the chapter point TDA inserts at each join.

Can you post a few steps starting at opening up TMPGEnc Author 3 to finishing it? (I not familiar with the program) Specifically: How do I remove chapter points?

I've never used TDA 3 myself, but in 1.x, there's a chapter list where all chapters are listed.
At least when using 1.x, there'd be a slight pause at the joins if the chapter points are left in place.
