Hi everyone..I am trying to convert a video clip file(avi?) and when I try to convert using winavi,it converts 3 vob files to a folder called dvd_0 and a fourth vob file to another folder called dvd_1.
How can I get it to convert into a sigle folder and in file order. Each folder has a VTS_01_1 labelled file, although they are different parts of the movie. Also the movie clip file is 701mb size. Can I rename one file and move to the other folder?Am using winavi 6.3
    Thanks.
    Darren.

FAVC is a free alternative to the above.

    Hi,
I'm having the same problem. GSpot says I have all the codecs. I can play the avi on DivX player fine. When I use ConverXToDVD it converts it, then burns it but my DVD player on my TV says it can't play it. The CD/DVD reader on my laptop won't play it either.
Any ideas as to what is wrong?
    Thanks.

Convert with ConvertXtoDVD, but write the results to your HDD. Test it before burning. If it works, ConvertXtoDVD is converting correctly and codecs are not the problem. Burn to a disc with Imgburn and test. Now test the discs. If they cannot be played by your player or laptop then problem is most likely either poor quality media, or your burner is dying.

The reason winavi is creating 2 folders is that you are trying to put the converted files into too small a place ( a quart into a pint pot).

When you have selected the files to be converted, click on the 'Advanced' button. You will see the option to change the DVD Capacity size. Choose a bigger size. You could also get 'too big' files if you are going for very high quality, you could try changing that instead/also. The quality options are on the same 'Advanced' page.

If you choose a bigger DVD Capacity and then your burner says it is too big for the dvd, you can use DVD Shrink to make it fit - just open DVD Shrink and choose 'open file' instead of 'open disk'.

Alright, I got a very similar question to this one. I've tried this 3 times and have used different programs every time. I've tried using WinAVI, ConvertXtoDVD, and DVD Flick but nothing has seemed to work for me. I've download a movie in AVI format, but whenever I try to convert it into 'DVD' format, it doesn't work.

My DVD player is - Panasonic DVD-RV32. DVD+R discs work on the player because I've done straight DVD rips of movies, and then copied them onto DVD+R discs.

So the problem is, whenever I convert the AVI into DVD format and then burn it onto a disc, my player tries to read the disc but displays the msg that it's unable to read the disc.

Any suggestions??? I've desperate to find an answer because I keep on drawing up blanks on this one.

Also just an FYI, my DVD player is at the most 5 yrs old because they came out with that model in 2002.

What speed are you burning at? And what burning software are you using. This might help us figure out your problem. Try lower burn speeds. Some players have problems with high burn speeds. I also recomend DVD-R media over DVD+R and use quality media like verbatim. Try 4x or 6x. Are you buy any chance using Memorex? Ive seen read problems like this with this media.

I'm just using CloneDVD2. It's pretty much stupid-proof, but I do have access to stuff like Nero as well. And as far as burn speed is, I just set it to maximum, so I'm guessing something like maybe just 8x or maybe a little higher than that.

I've also tried burning it to DVD-R discs. The discs I'm using are Sony.

I would try nero. Open nero burning rom and choose dvd-video on the left. Thats important You just cant copy the video and audio folder to a dvd like you copy a data disk. This option makes the disk playable in a dvd player. Just drag the folders to the large empty area in burning rom. Choose a burn spped like 6x that what i prefer.

I would use Imgburn. Much better for DVD Video than Nero.

So basically am I using the right conversion software? Cause I was thinking that was the original problem. Or...it just could be that my DVD player is just crapping out on me and it might be time for a new one. I don't know...I'll just try Imgburn first. And if thats not working, then I'll just try out Nero.

Sony are no longer the discs they used to be, but it could also be your burner, your player, or a shift in the earth's orbit. Many factors involved.

Which version of WinAVI are you using? In v8 I have been using the internal burner and the dvd's play fine, also in the previous version. Not sure about 6.3.
