great price...Is it completely compatible with the pioneer dvdra03 and as reliable/compatible with the dvd players (not finiky like cd-rs and various cd players to brands)?
-
Can't answer the above questions, but...
I ordered 10 of the discs and 2 of the double sided discs (thats right, DOUBLE SIDED DVD-R discs!!!).
This Co. makes their own discs.
The 10 regular discs came yesterday. No sign of the doubles.
This can only be good for us. The more they sell, the more pressure for other brands to lower their prices. -
I bought some as well and a new burrner. I'll post what I find out. Im still using my DVD-RW before i use these 3$ dvd-r.

When are dvd-rs going to be as cheap as cd-rs?
When will dvd-rs only cost 40 pence each?
Until then i am sticking with cdr.

Double Sided
Not Dual Layer -
At $3 per 4.7GB DVD-R that works out to only $.64 per GB or 1.56GB for $1. That is getting much closer to the cost basis of CD-R with the advantages of burning fewer disks and not having to split your files.

This company posts their recording methods and how much their dye costs. They claim 2 be the best CDR- Manufacturing company there is with the utmost quality. I wounder what u peepz think of this? I have just check out the site and am heavily impressed with the quality, colour variety and low price. I for now on am convinced and will forever now purchase my cd-r media from them =)

In Darrin B's post in https://www.videohelp.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?topic=70967&forum=1 the Pioneer A03 will only burn 2X on DVDrs made by Pioneer, Matsui, Verbatum and Apple (firmware). All others are 1X.
-
Does anyone know if there is a technical and physical reason for this, or could it be politics and economics?
For example, does the AO3 somehow test the media to verify it can support 2X burn, or does it just look for a manufacturer signature on the disk to determine 1X or 2X burn?
If it is the latter, then consider that Pioneer might charge media manufacturers a "certification fee" to get the blessing of 2X burn and in return consumers are incented to buy these certified brands instead of generics and keep the prices up.
It may or may not have anything to do with whether or not the generics could actually support 2X burn speed. -
ave burned a few DVD with www.cdrecordable.com's cheep DVD-Rs and had some really bad results. I have used Pioneer, TDK, and Memorex brand DVD-Rs with perfect results every time. Now when I used the cheaper brand (And Imation brand also gave me the same bad results) I get bad burns. When using Prassi Primo DVD I select Record and verify. It always burns without failure, but when it verifies it reports errors. When I play back the DVD-Video on my set top I get horrible playback with lots of stuttering, audio noise, and a few times locks up the whole player. When I made DVD-Data disc I had allot of corrupt files. I have usually been extremely happy with this media brand, they do have great CD-Rs, but I'm having no luck with their DVD-Rs. Anyone else having problems with these DVDs? Also I'm using an IBM Net Vista with Pent 3 933mhz, 512 ram, 2 100 GB 7200 RPM Hard drives and my Pioneer DVR-A03 with Firmware 1.65. Prazzi Primo DVD for Data or pre-authored Video, DVDit! PE version 2.5 (DVDit! never reported any errors while burning, DVDs still played like crap)
BarneyOk Ok Ok, I know I'm not as smart as all of you. But look how much smarter I make you look! -
I also am having terrible luck with these DVD-Rs. They burn OK but won't play in any player I have access to. I haven't tried them on Data but seeing as my PC won't even play the movies that I have made I won't hold my breath
Neishaverse: Unfortunatly I did not see your post before purchasing these disks if I had I would have only gotten a few. I can't believe we are the only two who have had this problem because we both have an A-03 which happens to be the most popular drive out there.
