    Hi.
Can any of you knowledgeable guys help me with a problem I have copying DVDs.
I know absolutely nothing about making and burning DVDs, so please make any advice detailed and simple!
I’ve copied some old videos to DVD using a Panasonic DMR-ES30V video/DVD recorder. I’m now trying to copy these DVDs using my laptop. It has a TSSTcorp DVD+-RW TS-L632D drive, and I’m using Roxio Easy CD & DVD Creator 6 software with DVD-R Discs.

If I use the CREATOR CLASSIC option in Creator 6 and copy the files from the original DVD, when it comes to burning, it fails with the error message: “TrackWriter error-wait failed” I’ve tried all the solutions offered by the software without success.

If I use the DISC COPIER option in Creator 6 and, when asked: “You have chosen to copy a multisession DVD recordable disc using a single drive (as both the source and destination). Will you be using DVD-R media as the destination disc? (If you click No, copying will still proceed.)” I select “yes”. It still fails to burn with a list of faults too long to list here, but the first line reads: “D: TSSTcorp DVD+-RW TS-L632D(“Logical block address out of range” [05/21/02])”. If I select the “No” option, it copies fine and plays in InterVideo WinDVD 7 on my laptop, but will not play in the Panasonic recorder, although I assume it’s an exact copy of the original? The recorder gives the message: “unsUPPORT”.

Can anyone tell me what’s happening and if it’s possible to overcome these problems? If I wanted to compile a DVD in the future, using the CREATOR CLASSIC option, is it possible to solve that problem (doesn’t seem to have the choice of selecting Yes or No for the media type in this option). Would using DVD+R discs solve the problems?

Many thanks for any help offered.
    Ralph.

  2. You didn't finalize your disk in the recorder.

Do that then you can copy it.

Thank you for your quick reply handyguy. The original disc was finalized. I don't know about the copied disc. Using the DISC COPIER option, I can't see a finalize function. I assumed it was done automatically! Can you confirm this is so? If not, how do I finalize it?

    Many thanks.

    Just use DVDDecrypter.
ISO Read Mode(place the .iso image in your hard drive)
ISO Write Mode(burn/write that .iso image back to a blank DVD)
Confirm the new one works - burn more discs if you need more than one copy.
Delete the .iso image from your hard drive.
    Done

Thank you hech54. I've downloaded DVDDecrypter. I'll give it a try later, see if I can cope with it!! I'll let you know how I get on. Have some outside painting to do today whilst the weather is good!

    Many thanks hech54.
Couldn’t settle until I’d tried your recommended software. So, I left the painting and did what you suggested. It worked a treat! I’m over the moon, been struggling with this for weeks!! I can even cope with the software.
Once more, thank you very much.

    You're very welcome.
I'm a former Roxio Easy CD Creator user myself. I realized that it was not the best at doing certain things and eventually had to get rid of it altogether once DVDR's came along.
