  1. Hello,

I am using fedora core 5 and pixelview play tv pro 2 tv tuner card. I used applications such as tvtime, mythtv to test the tuner card. I connected the composite output of an external DVD player to the composite input of the TV tuner card. Also connected the audio out from the dvd player to the audio in of the tv tuner card, and audio out of the tv tuner card to the line in of the PC sound card. When I play a dvd, I am getting the video but no sound whatsoever. This is what i get when i run lspci (relavant to the tuner card):

01:00.0 Multimedia video controller: Brooktree Corporation Bt878 Video Capture (rev 11)
01:00.1 Multimedia controller: Brooktree Corporation Bt878 Audio Capture (rev 11)

When I do dmesg | grep bttv, I get

    bttv: driver version 0.9.16 loaded
bttv: using 8 buffers with 2080k (520 pages) each for capture
    bttv: Bt8xx card found (0).
    bttv0: Bt878 (rev 17) at 0000:01:00.0, irq: 16, latency: 32, mmio: 0xd8100000
bttv0: using: Prolink PixelView PlayTV pro [card=37,insmod option]
    bttv0: gpio: en=00000000, out=00000000 in=007fc0ff [init]
    bttv0: using tuner=3
    bttv0: i2c: checking for TDA9875 @ 0xb0... not found
    bttv0: i2c: checking for TDA7432 @ 0x8a... not found
    bttv0: i2c: checking for TDA9887 @ 0x86... not found
    bttv0: registered device video0
    bttv0: registered device vbi0
    bttv0: registered device radio0
    bttv0: PLL: 28636363 => 35468950 .. ok
bttv0: PLL can sleep, using XTAL (28636363).

I googled a lot and tried many combinations of card numbers and tuner options... Currently using the modprobe command I have specified them as:
    modprobe bttv card=37 tuner=3 radio=1

I had read that you have to set the radio option to 1 to get the sound. But that option is not making any difference. Even the tuner option is not making much of a difference. I tried giving tuner=2 too, but with no luck...

    Thanking You,
    Divya

make sure you have enabled line in for recording in volume control under options-properties and that it is not muted or set to 0 volume.
