You can cut a mpeg2 while multiplexing with BBMPEG.
You can do both things in 1 pass.
While multiplexing with BBMPEG there's an option where you can specify the Start frame and the End frame and the max size of Mb.

When i code a movie,i have as a result a MPV video file + a MP2 audio file. Then i multiplex 1,2 or 3 times the files MPV+MP2. One time for each CD.

I'll split the movie before encoding. I know about the problems of this with TMPGenc and also about the chopie audio in TMPGenc.
Using a Bitrate calculator I nearly know how much time a video will need onto 1 cd. By cutting in advance, I don't need to so afterwards in TMPGenc.

I encode the audio to mp2 seperatly, and mux it later on with the m2v of the demuxed video in TMPGenc...

  4. Yep, like betamax said.. try to do everything in advance to save yourself the trouble.

  5. How long are you letting tmpeg hang? If you're on your second cut, it takes quite a while for it to search and find the movie and make the cuts. I thought it was freezing when I cut when in fact it was just taking a LONG time. So next time, try letting it sit after you choose where you're going to cut for the second half and just ignore it. Give it time to do the work. See if that works. Again, it takes a long time to cut the second half and it seems like it's hanging when it's actually just taking its sweet time.

  6. Tnx for all the answers. It works fine to cut in advance with virtualdub. I no longer have any problems with the "sound off sync" problem.

And, yes it realy hang, i never got the chance to make "the second cut"
