I'm trying to set up an old computer as a DVD-player and control it from another computer. I want to be able to use it without plugging in a screen. My problem is that when I remove the screen, the computer starts using the TV as the primary screen resulting in really crappy video. Is it possible to make the computer treat the TV as secondary output although there's no primary screen connected? The graphics card is a GeForce4 Ti 4200

I can't see why using the TV as primary or secondary display should affect video quality. I'd think it'd look the same?

I thought so too, but apparently not. Or maybe I'm doing something wrong? Is there some kind of video mode available for the primary screen perhaps?
