I am working on project for class Gatorade commercial (using Sony Vegas 7.0) and practicing by attempting to replace an empty glass in someones hand with a gatorade bottle and make it appear to be drinking it, any ideas on how I can go about doing this? any help is greatly appreciated thanks!

In Vegas 7 alone ? It will be slow going. You will have to manually track the motion of the hand, and match it with the bottle using key frames. You will also have to key frame the rotation of the bottle. I would put the clip of the drinker on one track, and the bottle on the track above it. You can then use Track Motion to do the key framing.

If you were using something like After Effects Pro Bundle, or Combustion, or Fusion, you could get it to automatically track the hand, which would save you a lot of time and leave you with simply refining the position and doing the rotation.

It is not difficult in Vegas, but it is slow.

The other issue you will have is masking, which again is easier in a compositing tool where you usually have bezier masks and paint tools.
