I have posted a couple of pictures on my isp web page to help illustrate my problem:

    http://members.shaw.ca/fybar27/Adobe.html

The problem is that when I export a frame to a bmp and make a matte of myself with Photoshop 8.0 in that picture then import the psd file into Premiere Pro 1.5 the matte and the picture don't match in PP. The first image is a screen shot of three photos compared to each other using IrfanView and PP. In this first picture the upper left image is the frame I export and the upper right image is the same image as bmp seen in IrfanView. The images look exactly the same in IrfanView as they do in Photoshop when compared side by side with image in PP. The image in the lower center the matte that I make. All images show as 720 x 480. As you can see I appear thinner in PP than I do in the exported bmp and the matte. The thicker pictures are closer to life, the video is 'slimming'.

The second image is the bmp that I made from the exported frame that I then imported into PP. The matte imposed over top with a diminished opacity.

    So, a few questions:

    1. Why does the frame I export look thinner in PP that it does in Photoshop?

    2. I imported the matte and the bmp that I made the matte from, but the matte is 'thicker' and the bmp looks the same in PP as the frame it was made from. Why don't the matte and the bmp match in PP but match in Photoshop?

    3. Why do I look thinner in the video than in real life?

    Thanks!

  2. PP is correcting for the display aspect ratio (4:3) of the video. Photoshop is not, it is displaying the matte with square pixels.

I ended up right clicking on the clip in the Project window and going to 'Interpret Footage...' and then I changed the Pixel Aspect Ratio to 1.0(square pixels). I then re-exported my frames and re-imported and all was good. The matte I made worked without having to do any re-work.

    Thanks for the reply,
