Help! Can't Get Vid Camera signal to PC?

Installed an AIW a year ago and just now getting around to connecting vid camera to capture. Bought the svideo cable tonight. Tried to capture using native Windows Movie Maker and nothing show on my preview screen/nothing captured. The camera is on and playing tape? What am I missing? Thanks for all who respond... :o

He has S-Video from the camcorder not firewire.

Have you installed all the ATI Catalyst and MMC software? Is it functional for the TV tuner and other inputs over the S-Video port? I'd suggest using MMC to capture. VirtualdubMod should also work.

It's a JVC SuperVHS Digital Image processing camcorder. The TV tuner works but the icon to capture is disabled regardless of the channel.

When I open Studio 8, I start to capture but the preview screen is black (apparently no signal). The same occurs with Windows Movie Maker. Brand new svideo cable plugged into the ATI card along with the two audio cables...

You may need to reinstall your ATI software. It should be able to record from the tuner.

You could first try another capture program like VirtualdubMod but those will capture uncompressed. You need to use ATI MMC to use the MPeg hardware assist on the AIW card.

AIW has really weird cabling. Be sure you got them connected right.
